A Child's Place Preschool

A typical day at A Child's Place Preschool consists of the following...

7:00 - Opening - When the children are arriving in the morning they are welcomed
by music and table activities. They also have free play while awaiting the arrival of
their friends.

7:45 - Children begin to clean up the room, go potty and wash their hands. At this
time diapers are also changed.

8:00 - Children sit together for breakfast where they are encouraged to serve
themselves and be independent eaters. After they have cleaned up their spot at the
table, they sit at circle.

8:30 - Circle time begins. During circle time the child starts by singing the good
morning song and saying hi to everyone. We look at the calendar and read a book
that relates to our weekly theme. After our book, we play a group game also relating
to our theme. We also assign our daily helper jobs and pick our child of the day.
The child of the day goes in order and every child has many chances to be the child
of the day. At the end of circle, the children choose an activity to participate at until
it's their turn to do art.

9:00 – 9:45 - Children have the freedom to do table toys and play. They also have
the opportunity to do an art project that relates to our theme.

10:00 - The children clean up and do potty wash. At this time, diapers are also
changed. They eat snack for 15 minutes.

10:15 - 11:15 - This is outside time. While outside, the children choose from many
free activities or do a teacher directed activity such as tag, drawing with chalk or
outside art.

11:15 - 11:45 - The children go inside for music and movement for 30 minutes where
they have a chance to learn new songs, play instruments, dance to music and learn
to keep a beat.

11:45 - Noon - The children are excused to go to potty wash for lunch. At this time
diapers are also changed.

Noon - The children eat lunch and afterwards clean their spot at the table and make
their nap mat with the assistance of the teacher.

12:45 - Children are put down on their nap mats. They hear a good night story,
have their backs rubbed and are put to sleep.

2:30 - Children quietly put away their mats, go potty wash and then do quiet activities
at the table until all the children are up. Diaper changes also happen at this time.

3:00 - Snack is provided once all of the children have woken.

3:45 - Children go outside to play for 30 minutes.

4:15 - Children come in and have free play where they can do any activity in the
room.

5:00 - Children have mommy wash up time. At this time they have their faces
cleaned, their hair brushed (with their own brush), and put lotion on.

5:30 - The school closes until the next fun filled day.
